‘30 Rock’ preview for Fey fans
Cory Bergman August 2nd, 2006
If past history is any guide, quite a few LR readers are Tina Fey fans. So here’s the trailer for her upcoming NBC show 30 Rock, loosely based on the behind-the-scenes life of SNL. Pretty funny stuff. (The clip is available both on YouTube — provided by NBC — and on NBC.com. The NBC.com clip has an ad in front of it, so I linked the YouTube version. I would have embedded the YouTube clip in the blog — driving more views and awareness for NBC — but the embedding function was disabled “by request.”)

1. I love Tina Fey in every possible and legal way. Possibly illegal ways.
2. The trailer is excellent. Alec Baldwin has always been a terrific - yes I said terrific - comedic actor. It’s his dramatic chops that are suspect.
3. Good for NBC for allowing the self-deprication. And I thought Studio 60 ripped on NBC!
4. What good comes of disabling embedding? I don’t even get that. What does that do for them?

I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you that there was a day that you could Google Tina Fey’s name an there were five — yes, five — total results. And my website was number one.

I’ve seen the rough cut of the pilot. The show itself looks like it has potential, with the one hitch being Tracy Morgan’s character. He needs a little more work. Alec Baldwin is awesome in this show, as is Fey and her writer staff.

I hope the promo isn’t all the good parts. I laughed out loud here at work at some of the bits. Have to be more careful.
I’m looking forward to the show.
