Meebo integrates IM on any site

Oooh, this is cool. Meebo allows web publishers to integrate an instant messaging widget on their sites. “As people go onto that page, I can see them, so I know in real-time who’s on my page,” said Seth Sternberg, CEO and co-founder. “And I can talk to them in real-time. Literally, we’ve embedded instant messaging into web pages.”

This reminds me of software called Groopz that’s been around for a couple of years. Its primary use is that it puts a sales person in the browsing experience. “Hello, my name’s Terry. May I help you?” Kind of shocking when it happens, but it’s smart business. Wouldn’t it be fun if anchors could pop into the web experience from time-to-time?

we had an anchor around here that i’ve mentioned from time to time. the first comeback out of anyone’s mouth when i mentioned this icon of detroit tv was that he was a drunk.
now him popping into someone’s web experience would be cool…most of the others would simply put me to sleep.
