The citizen media unconference
David Johnson August 8th, 2006
Dan Gillmor gathered a gaggle of blogging powerhouses at Harvard Law School yesterday for a very unusual event. In an age marketing overhype and media mega shows (although E3 is promising to cut back a little), coughing up a twenty at the door for grub to sit in a room with no panel, no speakers, no sizzle, makes for a pretty unconventional convention alone. Check out Doc Searl’s notes and the podcasts to see what came out of what may one day be considered a historical summit.

after attending 9 blogging-related conferences in a 12 month period (july 05 to july 06) this was probably one of the most productive conferences I attended. It was more like the scientific conferences researcher -riends of mine attend where peers present information to peers and then there’s discussion about the research. There are certainly enough of us doing various forms of online media that we can indeed have discussions among ourselves about what we do, if it’s effective, and what we find out about the world around us. Pundits? we don’t need no stinking pundits! they’re *so* yesterday
(sorry we didn’t get to meet, btw)
