JOB DESCRIPTION

NewsChannel5.com has an immediate opening for an Online Editor. This supervisory position will be have overall responsibility for the gathering and compiling of news, multimedia and interactive content for Nashville’s #1 TV station web site. Applicant needs a minimum two (2) years experience in a broadcast, print, or Internet newsroom, with a thorough understanding of interactive journalism concepts. The successful candidate will possess a proven ability to lead projects and work with other departments in a news organization. Basic knowledge of Internet technologies including HTML, javascript, Flash, and CSS. Experience with web authoring/content management tools, imaging programs such as Photoshop and experience with video or other multimedia. Working knowledge of analog and/or digital video as well as video and/or audio production preferred. Understanding of current issues and events, both local and national. Accomplished writing and editing skills, including a strong knowledge of Associated Press style, grammar and spelling. Good organizational and communication skills. Flexibility to work as needed within station hours of operation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. College degree preferred.
