CBS to stream ‘Evening News’ live online

In a first for a network, CBS announced today it plans to stream the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric live on CBSNews.com beginning on September 5th. “This is a groundbreaking development in making the program available to the largest possible audience,” said Sean McManus, President, CBS News and Sports. Users will be required to register to ensure they view it live at the same time Evening News airs in their time zone. The newscast will also be made available on demand after the simulcast. Both will be free and ad-supported. Also, the network announced a bevy of new online elements for Evening News: “Couric & Company” is a daily blog; “Eye to Eye” is a daily video of extended newsmaker interviews; “First Look with Katie Couric” is a web-exclusive rundown of stories being considered for the broadcast; and “Katie Couric’s Notebook” is a podcast of a one-minute look at a top story or issue. You knew CBS News would come out swinging online with Couric’s debut, but the announcement to stream the newscast live is surprising. It follows word earlier this week that CBS.com will stream primetime shows online for free. CBS has a deal in place with its affiliates to share digital revenue on projects like these — although it’s unclear how much. But still, it will be interesting to gauge reaction from affiliate newsrooms. Anyone?

Couric’s “daily blog” has been dialed back she told recent interviewers to one day a week.
Now let’s see how long his latest “initiative” lasts.

From what the company was told during a sat conference on Tuesday, the blog will be a show blog with all correspondents contributing to the daily entries. I understand the name of the blog changed from “Couric & Country” to “Couric & Company.” The frequency of Katie’s own entries wasn’t made clear, but the perception of a frequently updating and evolving blog is everything.

What happens in the Albany market, where WRGB plans to show the Evening News at 7 p.m. beginning with Katie’s debut, while most of the rest of the east coast sees it at 6:30? Does this mean people in Albany can watch the show a half-hour early?

If the community has no role in the broadcast, CBS News is missing out on a marketing tool more powerful than broadcast promotion, word of mouth. يا جماعصعب زي ما انتو فاكرين ونش عايز كل الفلوس اللي بتقولو ه السفر مش عليها المهم لازم تفكرو ايه اسهل طريقه للسفر وبالنسيه لامريكا اسهل طريقه للسفر هي الدراسه وفي موسسات كتير بتعمل منح للدراسه بس لليدور مثلا في جاجه اسمها فل برايت دي مؤسسه امريكيه كبيره بتقدم منح للدراسه كل سنه للموهلات العليا وكمان للتعليم المتوسط والحرفين وشرطها سهله جدا ومش صعبه ودي موجوده في 21 ش عامر المساحه الدقي ويارب اكون قدرت اعملكوو حاجه……..

انا حاولت السفر لاكثر من مره كنت فى الاردن وحولت وكان لى اصدقاء امريكان ولكن للاسف مكدروش يعملو حاجه مع انهم كانو شغالين فى السفاره الامريكيه وانريكا حلم لا نحبه ونتمنى ان نعيش فيه اغرب نظريه على وجه الارض نتمنى ان نحيى بارض الاعداء يالا سخريه القدر نرجو من الاخوه الحكام يشوفو احنا عايزين انهج ولنسيب بلادنا ليه انا من مصر واسافر من اكتر من 17 سنه يا ريت تكون فيه شويه رحمه واسفين للازعاج مع حلم صعب المنال بل شبه مستحيل بس من حقنا نحلم ولا دا كمان حرام
