Internet News Manager/Producer, KSL-TV

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To update, gather, maintain, and create news
content for the KSL.com web site. Ensure that all news content on the
web site is fresh and represents the high standards of the station’s
on-air products. The ideal candidate for this position demonstrates
strong editorial skills and sound news judgment. This is a unique
position that requires extreme flexibility, including some work on
weekends, evenings, etc. In addition, the position requires the
flexibility and dependability to work additional hours during
breaking news and other big news events. Works closely with the KSL
News Department and other departments to help make KSL.com a world
class web site.
Position Requirements:
•College degree in communications, journalism, marketing, business,
or related field.
•Experience working in a newsroom environment. Prefer experience as
a reporter, copy editor, or producer.
•Exceptional news writing, editing, and grammar skills. Ability to
edit, produce, and create accurate, well presented content in a
quick, timely manner.
•Must possess typing skills and computer input ability. Basic
computer skills and the ability to learn new programs and HTML are
required. Must enjoy working with computers and technology. •Able
to produce, gather, edit, and update news content for the KSL web
site on a daily basis. May require the production and gathering of
text, images, web pages, audio/video, etc. to accomplish this
function. Will work closely with others in the KSL newsroom to
accomplish this function.
•Help integrate Internet Department with newsroom staff by working
with news producers and reporters to provide “More on the Web”
content that tie in with on-air stories.
•Management skills required: Will manage all news content that is
fed to the site from a variety of sources: internal
editors/producers, wire feeds, partners, etc. Will ensure that the
content is timely and accurate.
•Able to manage online news events and special features (Election
coverage, etc.). In addition to news content, must be willing to
update other content on web site as assigned.
•Able to work independently with little supervision. Requires a
track record of dependability and evidence of being a self-starter.
•As a key player of the KSL web team, must be willing to offer
ideas, suggestions, and other concepts for the station’s Internet
activities that are innovative and creative. Willingness to support
web team and participate in a variety of Internet activities.
