George Bush to suffer CGI assassination

The UK’s Channel 4 has produced a movie that opens with the assassination of President Bush in front of a Chicago hotel. But what makes it even more interesting is the fact they’ve used CGI special effects to use Bush’s actual face. “We studied hours and hours of footage of Bush,” said director Gabriel Range. “The scenes are created by a mixture of special effects, stock footage and digitally compositing our actors onto the archive of Bush.” Range is shopping the movie to the US networks, which of course will turn it down. I like the director’s backhanded defense: “There is no way it would encourage anyone to assassinate Bush and usher in Cheney’s America.”

This is pornography for the MoveOn.org set. But I think it is really pretty harmless…and if anything, will backfire politically on those who will find it most gratifying.

Ok, that’s just stupid. Do you really think that the left would find Bush’s death ‘gratifying?’ They might hate him with all their energy, but anyone who enjoys the death of someone else is seriously screwed up, regardless of politics. And I mean, it’s not as if Republican commentators never wish for the deaths of political opponents, as well.
That comment strikes me as cynical and crass to the extreme. Is that really the point that we, as a country are at?

Rocker is taking a page right from the administration with the straw-man argument — “some people say…”
Just because you think some people may find it gratifying does not make it so.

I said that the MoveOn.org audience would find the depiction of his death gratifying, not his actual death. And I think if you mosied on over there and read the typical commentary, it would be difficult for you to dispute. So Jason, when you say “anyone who enjoys..this..is seriously screwed up”, I can’t disagree with your assessment.
Eric, get out of your partisan box. You don’t have to be an administartion lackey to be turned off by the angry left. If the Democrats ever figure this out, they might actually win something.
My position would have been the same had this come out in 1998 and featured Bill Clinton…just substitute “Christian right” for “MoveOn.org set” in my original post.

I have to say I’m interested in seeing the show, and it has nothing to do with my politics. I don’t really care about the partisan B.S. - a good movie’s a good movie, and a crappy one isn’t worth anyone’s time.
If you read the description of the movie, it’s not so much about the “assassination” as it is about what might ensue after. It’s not so much “Killing George Bush” as a “What If” scenario.

i find the promo photo totally unbelievable; it looks like the kennedy era when everyone was slender. to accurately portray the current admin. (armitage, cheney, rove) they’ d have to do a slo-mo of some of these guys belly flopping to the floor.
