Belo-owned, KHOU-TV is seeking an experienced supervising editor to
manage the day-to-day operations of its Website content. The managing
editor will be responsible for the quality and accuracy of news
content on site and drive the daily news flow to expand coverage of
breaking news, local news, and weather and other content. The editor
will help manage, support and coach the web editing staff with an eye
on raising the level of interactivity, quality and quantity of content
online.

The editor will attend daily news meetings and must be able to
interface with broadcast managers, producers and reporters as well as
other media partners to manage the delivery of content for the web.
The editor will also manage staff schedules, plan for the long-term
growth of the site and coverage for major events.

Applicants should be experienced with print style writing, copy
editing and editorial gathering with a focus on local news, breaking
news and weather content. The editor will be able to write, rewrite,
edit, produce and update site content on deadline, exhibit sound news
judgment and be well versed in AP style. Internet literacy a must,
knowledge of the Houston news market a plus.

Experience with video digitizing, editing and encoding techniques and
reader-submitted content in an online environment is beneficial.
Candidates should have a college degree and at least five years
experience writing and editing news content in a major-market online,
print or broadcast newsroom and at least two years experience in a
management role.
