Dumbest TV ad ever

Because I’m armed with a DVR, the only time I watch TV commercials is during live sports. So imagine my surprise when I saw this ad during a break in college football on ABC: It starts with two guys fast-forwarding their DVR through a football game, a TiVo-like bar at the bottom of the screen. “Come on, get to the good stuff,” one guy says, as they forward through a touchdown. Then up pops a shot of a Nissan truck driving through mud in slo mo. “Ooh, that’s it. Niiiice. Look at that,” they say. “I could watch that all day.” Then the Nissan graphic comes up at the end of the spot. “One more time?” one guy asks. “Sure.” And they rewind it back. Spot then fades to black. Is Nissan’s ad agency really dumb enough to think guys will fast-forward through a touchdown to watch a truck ad over and over again? Apparently so.

    Does Budweiser’s ad agency dumb enough to think guys think we’ll all get hot chicks by drinking their beer? Then why do so many beer ads feature hot babes?

    I haven’t seen the commercial you are referring to, but it sounds tongue-in-cheek and pretty clever. (I already own a Nissan, btw.) It’s just a commercial.

    I’m remembering not to buy the product. And remembering why I should pause the game when it goes to breaks, then resume it two and half minutes later.

    Are you serious? No commercial is “reality”… do you ask the “reality” question everytime you see an ad? Yikes!

    I don’t know. Some of my biggest hits come from Dual Action Cleanser.
    Go figure.

    I was behind in my game watching, so I FF’d thru it but got the gist.

    It’s a nice tounge and cheek on the nature of DVRs.

    And like you said, the only time you watch commercials…

    They got you.

    No, we aren’t unemployed because of the sideline ban. In fact, now we get paid to sit and watch it on tv in the photog workroom. Thanks for your concern.
