NAB recommends second term for FCC chairman

Steve Safran September 12th, 2006

The NAB has written a letter to Sen. Ted “Tubes” Stevens recommending a second term confirmation for FCC chairman Kevin J. Martin. Writes NAB President and CEO David Rehr: “Chairman Martin deserves all of our thanks and support for his in-depth understanding of complex issues and his ability to communicate those issues to the American people.” Yes, he’s soft on regulation. But what good is deregulation when you could lose your license because one wacko complains about a dirty word?

You could lose your license????? That is sow 20th century. Didn’t you know Safran that you no longer need the airwaves to get a product to your audience. See, there is this thing called the Internet that is delivered to people’s home through fiber or cable (and perhaps even power lines). Yeah, this thing is great. You ought to try it. I here people are starting to watch TV shows from websites. And I hear rumors that people may be able to just download the Movies and TV shows they want without having to subscribe to 400 channels. But if you do get 400 channels to your home (which again is so 20th century), don’t worry, I also hear a rumor that something calle “a la carte” is coming. Part of the deregulation, regulation combo.
