Current TV partners with Yahoo
Cory Bergman September 19th, 2006
Al Gore’s cable channel has teamed with Yahoo in a new partnership designed to generate more video submissions to CurrentTV while providing Yahoo with some original video content. The two companies will collaborate on four video channels on Yahoo and Current TV: Yahoo Current Buzz (what’s hot), Yahoo Current Action (sports), Yahoo Current Drive (cars) and Yahoo Current Traveler. Of note, Madeleine Smithberg, the co-creator and former executive producer of The Daily Show , is producing the Buzz channel. One of the first clips in the partnership, posted in Yahoo Current Traveler, is a clip directed by none other than Bono himself, “A Day in the Life of The Edge.” So why did Yahoo partner up with Current as opposed to all those other user-video sites out there? “Current focuses on original content that isn’t just ripped from other sites,” said Yahoo’s vice president of social media Jason Zajac.

Seems like a significant improvement. Current has lost me of late, so this will return me for another sampling.
