Has NBS canceled the ‘Studio 60′ blog?

Steve Safran September 24th, 2006

The awful blog from “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” has apparently been pulled. At least, I don’t see it. Defaker was a fake blog purportedly written by a “fan” of the show-within-a-show. I don’t know how many levels of meta deep this is, but either the fictional NBS ordered a cease and desist (likely) or NBC came to its senses. (Thanks to Max, a Brit who called the blog “quasifictional bollocks.”)

[...] Just noticed a little tidbit about a fake blog that nbc had set up for Studio 60. This is the gist: the blog was mocked up to look like defamer.  It purported to be written by a fan of in the world of Studio 60 writing about the events of the show.   The blog was poorly received from the both online and print media.  It now looks like the blog has pretty much been yanked already.  Lost  Remote reports it has been pulled.  Check out what defamer had to say about it. Corporate dalliances with the internet are always a hoot. I don’t think the idea is entirely without merit.  Building an extension of the program online could be fun if done with the right pinache. However defaker reads like an episode synopsis off of TV Guide complete with glamor shots.  The attempt I assume was to create an extension of the program yet the damn thing repeats stuff from the show!  For example from the blog: The man actually pulled a “Network” on live television by stopping the show’s cold open to deliver the ground-breaking news to the American populace that Studio 60 sucked and the network made him replace something that was incredibly funny with something that was incredibly lame. I want Studio 60 BACK On and I want it back NOW
This is a GREAT show and if someone or someones don’t like it , that is their stupidity talking. It is a fast, smart show and those who don’t like it probably can’t follow it . . . consider the source!
I want Studio 60 BACK NOW
    Thank you 10/31/06 6:20 p.m.

So far the only good show i have seen on TV since they have brought the CSI Desease . I am not saying that i am not a fan of the The CSI’s but i find there tired murders to easy and pointless. It will be such a shame if they cancel Studio 60 i have enjoyed it from the beginning there humor mixed with the feel of West Wing i feel really works together i hope they wouldn’t cancel it i would be so mad

Smart, funny, poignant. I love this show and hope they don’t kill it off to make room for more mindless programming ala Earl or Wife Swap.

Sorkin is brilliant. He leaves me breathless with his sharp dialog and interesting topics. Also love the way he weaves current events into the storylines, like the Katrina musicians on the Christmas show. Very cool stuff.

Why do all the good shows get cancelled? STUDIO 60 is one of the truly great shows on TV. Please say it isn’t so that it is going be taken away.

I guess that The Black Donnelly’s is replacing Studio 60? Studio 60 should have simply been moved to another night. I think that a great deal of people had a lot of trouble following the show, and being able to stay with its upbeat tempo. However, these people that experienced these difficulties are not very intelligent. I think a kid in high school should be able to follow the show. We have to realizie that there are more idiots watching television than educated individuals and partly because people with any brains at all, actually have a life, and have other things to do than watch television all of the time.

Studio 60 is a GREAT show. It is fast paced and interesting. You HAVE to pay attention from the beginning in order to catch everything. Maybe the TV viewers are all ADD and can’t keep up! Either way, this is the first show I’ve really loved in a long time. And for that, I refuse to watch the Black Donnelly’s simply because I want Studio 60 to stay. Besides, what if I start to like the Black Donnelly’s, they’ll just take it off the air, too!
    DON’T CANCEL STUDIO 60!!!!!!!!

So is Studio 60 cancelled or what? E.R. is at least slated to come back according to the NBC website for the show… but Studio 60 (On the Sunset Strip - which has been dropped btw) doesn’t say anything about the show returning in April, like E.R. is?!?!?

I must say I love Matt and Harriett. I love them to death. They are the best examples of the red vs blue states of this country and the show is therapy for the whole nation.

The show is on the wrong channel at the wrong time. The NBC scheduling department is a bunch of assholes to put a show with a largely intelligent and older demographic as it’s target audience on right after a mindless game show and what is basically a bad and terribly slow version of X-Men brought to TV. These two shows cater to less intelligent and younger audiences then Studio 60.

I don’t know when Studio 60 should be on, and it’s probably a mute point anyways since it’s most likely cancelled.

HEY NBC! Make it official already and stop stringing the fans along! If you want someone to sort out scheduling over there you can hire me. :)

The problem with Studio 60 is that during it’s lifetime it’s progressively become less of a drama and more of a soap opera. Think of West Wing: The first several seasons it was mostly about the goings-on of the White House, with a bit of character development here and there. Then over time it was less & less about the White House and more about the characters personal lives. And it got boring quick. Studio 60 seems to pick up where West Wing left off: they’ve ditched all show-related content in favor of Matt/Harriet and Danny/Jordan. And it’s deadly boring! Neither Harriet nor Jordan were very compelling characters to begin with: Harriet is poorly written (all religion all the time) and and Jordan is miscast (Amanda Peet is OK in bit parts, but she’s a crummy actress). So now we’re stuck with two “love stories” that no one cares about. Has no one noticed that the ratings slide is directly proportional to the amount of screentime devoted to theese two annoying plotlines?

I really really like this show. They need to bring it back. Its a smart show. Its funny and I love the story line and all the characters. Many others like myself think this is one of the best shows on TV.

7.7 million viewers 2.5 million dollars per ep. so if we each pay under 40 cents (do we have to watch commercials) will they continue to make it? I pay 40 cents per ep - esp if I do not have to watch any commercials - I should be able to earn the 40 cents needed in the 16 min of commercials aired!

Studio 60 id you last chance with me. Every show I have grown to like from NBC has been cancelled-no reason to watch a station that simply does not cater in any way to my likes or needs. So go Studio 60, so goes my support …finally!

The previous comments were correct, in stating that the dynamics between Matt/Harriet & Jordan/Danny played a role in the ratings slide. Two much personal drama, too soon. I am so utterly frustrated that “the Makau deal” was written so late into the season. Jack’s character had started to really make some traction.
I do really hope that the rest of the season is produced. It is so difficult to find good television.
