I think I wrote about this … in 1992. It’s under the subhead Democratization of Information in the essay, “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Airwaves” that appeared in both Analog and in the Seattle Times on my Byte Me online blog, linked to from my main one.

It fits under the category of buying yourself an editor. (Back then, I called it a smart filter.) Who needs tempermental talent, anyway?

Nice to see the technology caught up.

It would be cool if they could get a second life character to read the news. You could jump to the TV station’s island to watch the station stream the news into second life or watch a second life character do the broadcast.

Yeah, I’ve seen this before too. WHOtv.com did something called “Erinbot” a while back. It didn’t automatically gather the info to generate the newscast, but I think they’re using the same tool to execute the finished look. I think it was Oddcast.

Yep its kind of wierd. She seems to be standing stiffly. I wonder if they put her behind a desk if that would help.

One problem is that they showed a map of Israel when they were talking about the Sudan. What’s that about? This is from a university?

Second, I like that she takes care of the zombie without prompting from her producer.

I think people will watch this (if they’ll watch Russian women giving the news while taking off their clothes they’ll watch anything).
