The Online Video Producer is responsible for the creation of
editorial content focused on furthering online programming and
branding initiatives for The Weather Channel. Reporting to the
Director of Programming and Operations (and working closely with site
Content Managers) this person will produce content to drive
impressions, incite high demand and generate repeat usage. This
person will also support overall content development for various
broadband channels as assigned. The Online Video Producer will work
closely with TWC producers and serve as liaison between the Advanced
Media and TWC Programming groups to foster integration and
collaboration between the two platforms. Must be able to handle
multiple projects at once with varying deadlines. Must exhibit great
editorial instincts and be able to manage and direct both talent and
production staff. The candidate must possess superior writing
skills, and should ideally have an understanding of consumer
attitudes and culture of the Web, particularly as they relate to the
broadband environment.
- Produce video content for broadband channels managed by the Advanced
Media group.
- Identify, develop and create compelling, interactive content either
as original web programming, complimentary online extension of TWC
programming or repurposed from existing assets.
- Coordinate with TWC to repurpose video packages, live shots, and
long-form programming for weather.com.
- Control and manage all aspects of production/post-production:
research, writing, source acquisition, graphics design, VO record,
etc.
- Supervise edit/production sessions or provide clear direction for
editors to work unsupervised.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years successful experience as writer/producer; minimum 2
years in the on-line environment, experience working within the
television/video/ multimedia environment preferred.
- Deep understanding of Web culture and content philosophy.
- Undergraduate degree in this or other relevant field required.
- News experience preferred.
