Online Content Manager, Coxnet
Atlanta
Cory Bergman October 8th, 2006
COXnet, the Atlanta-based organization which provides support and
services to Cox Newspapers and its Web sites, has an immediate
opening for the position of Online Content Manager. We’re looking for
an energetic, experienced new media professional to work with several
teams to help us define the next generation of content for newspaper
sites.
The Online Content Manager, who reports to the Content Director, will
have day-to-day responsibility for decisions related to Web news
content and production. COXnet’s Content Department works with all of
Cox Newspapers’ Web sites on shared content, new local initiatives,
multimedia, Flash interactives and other special projects. The Online
Content Manager will work closely with COXnet’s Design, Content
Projects and Web Production teams on planning and coordination with
the sites and also serve as a liaison with other departments
internally involved in the project process.
The Online Content Manager will manage and coordinate resources
within the Content Department to ensure quality standards within a
fast-paced, speed-to-market environment. Applicants should be
versatile and quick-thinking — equally at home responding to a major
news event or making long-range plans. The right candidate should have
the vision and skills to lead Web producers while maintaining the
ability to communicate across a wide range of audiences — from the
non-technical to the most Web-savvy. The manager will collaborate
with marketing, advertising and other departments in development of
promotion or revenue plans. The manager also will be called upon
occasionally to evaluate vendors or handle special assignments from
the Content Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of five years experience in new media, including time at a
newspaper site. Experience in a print newsroom a plus.
- Strong understanding of all major standard Web-related
applications, including Photoshop, HTML and CSS. Experience with a
Content Management System a plus.
- Understanding of Flash and database integration.
- Ability to understand and work with designers and multimedia
producers.
- Excellent communication skills that inspire a team atmosphere
internally and confidence from other contacts
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to meet deadlines
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in journalism or
new media.
