Meredith Vieira now blogging… on iVillage

Cory Bergman October 9th, 2006

The NBC Today Show host now has her own blog, but on NBC Universal-owned iVillage, not on MSNBC.com. By design, iVillage is playing an increasing role inside the broadcast. (Link via TVNewser)

    Dear Meredith,

I felt invisible when Today did its piece of love a few minutes ago. These treatments are mostly boy/girl oriented and those of us who are gay or lesbian seemingly don’t count. In all animal studies there are same-sex bondings and certainly in today’s world it is clear that men are loving men and women are loving women. My lover of 21 years died 16 months ago of a heart attack. And as I go through the grieving/mourning process, there are no models for me. I have to filter through the man/woman paradigms and translate them into my own situation. Now I know you have to cater to middle America, but maybe you could be a force for education. I would love to see the gay community integrated into such a treatment of the nature of love. Show photos of gay couples as well as mom & dad, boy & girl drinking champagne, etc. Maybe if we were treated like everyone else, we would be treated like everyone else. Just two guys in love, just two women in love, just the boy and girl next door in love. Maybe one day. Maybe Today can bring about that day sooner……

    Thanks for listening,
