Anonymous is right, although FNC not only lowballed its rate early on but also paid Cablevision to run the channel in certain markets. Now that they’ve surpassed CNN and completely eclipsed MSNBC, I think its fully reasonable for FNC to be getting the carriage rates it deserves.

Not at all astonishing, Safran, if you compare apples to apples. Look, for example, at what CNN gets compared to its viewership levels. And keep in mind that FNC lowballed their rate for the first ten years just to get carriage. They’ve more than earned their keep since then. One dollar gets headlines but this sensible figure will set the price for the rest of the MSOs.
