As announced earlier this month, CBS has launched a channel on YouTube with clips from CBS News, David Letterman, CSI, NCIS and CBS Sportsline. CBS will share in the ad revenue associated with CBS video, both clips posted by the network and by users.

Called GamePlay Metrics, the ratings system will provide data for clients who buy advertising inside video games. Nielsen’s new system will also track user behavior between video games, TV and the web. “The value of an entertainment medium is directly proportional to how well it is measured,” said Jeff Herrmann, Vice President of Nielsen Wireless and Interactive Services. My co-worker Allison can always tell when I’m having a hard time remembering which of my passwords goes with which site. I slowly get more agitated as I type different combinations of the three or four words I typically use. The thing is, I don’t really care if someone knows my password to NYTimes.com or any other news site. And different sites have different rules about how long and sophisticated your password needs to be. People are giving up. One in three workers write down their passwords, nearly defeating the point. “This is really a lot like mom and dad buying a great new security system for the house and junior leaving the combination under the door mat,” David O’Connell, senior analyst at Nucleus Research, told Reuters.

Way cool. The iRecord (of course) lets you record video directly to your video-enabled iPod, Sony PSP, “or any other USB mass storage device.” It’s $200, encodes in the MP4 standard, and takes analog inputs. Of course there are lots of other ways to put vids on your devices, but I like the one-stop-box idea.

We support company blogs - provided the companies disclose they are the ones behind the blogs. But Edelman PR came up with a campaign for Wal-Mart that was less than forthright - WalMarting Across America. It featured a couple’s travels around the country, blogging about how great WalMart is. Hello? Well, bloggers saw right through the charade and soon Edelman PR found itself in a PR nightmare. Still, PaidContent points out how defensive the blog’s final entry is. Come on. Don’t make a bad situation worse. Blaming the people who uncovered you is a very bad idea.
