MTV vet launches travel video site

Travelistic wants to be the YouTube of travel video. Founder Nicholas Butterworth, who was the former head of MTVi, said he sees Travelistic as a hybrid of user-generated and licensed material to offer “multiple points of view.” Butterworth also has plans to launch other niche user video sites in the near future. Your headline says “MTV launches” but the inside says, accurately, “MTV vet launches”. Might want to tweak the front cover.

As far as licensing goes, if a traveler shoots video
of a musical performance (as the screen grab
example shows) most likely that performance is
copyrighted…. so there will still be trouble with
those kinds of issues. Other than that, I love the idea of
travel videos produced by travelers themselves,
as opposed to corporations producing them and
then positioning them as “fair an balanced”
