2008 Olympics changes schedule for TV
Cory Bergman October 26th, 2006
The IOC has agreed to shift gymnastics and swimming finals to the morning hours in Beijing in so the popular events can be broadcast live in prime time in the U.S. And you can blame it on the internet, which cut into NBC’s ratings last time around. “We’re pleased with the announcement,” NBC Sports spokesman Mike McCarley said. “It will allow the two most popular Summer Olympic sports in the United States to be seen here mostly live.”

a guy from another great blog (you know who you are) made mention of something similar about 2 weeks ago when it came to a certain golfer playing in a certain golf match overseas.
i guess playing golf in the middle of the night just to suit the US audience was out of the question.
they tape delayed the darn thing instead.
“i guess history is not live on espn” he said

NBC has had the Olympic broadcasting rights for how long now and they still haven’t come up with a Web model? I don’t think they’ve streamed a single event live yet.
This could’ve been their chance to look halfway modern, but instead, we’ll all watch on TV, on their schedule.
Or we won’t at all.
