Paper sites set traffic records in September
Cory Bergman October 28th, 2006
A Nielsen-Netratings report compiled for the Newspaper Association of America found that traffic to newspaper sites grew 24 percent in the third quarter over the same time last year. And September was a record month. The NAA says the traffic boost is due to new features like video, podcasts and user-created content.

hey, good news for the papers for a change!
on the flip side, i’ve been following a number of local TV sites from around the country via alexaholic.
for many, their numbers continue to trend lower, especially after a ballyhooed relaunch where the traffic will spike because they most likely bill its name change as the 2007 model sliced bread.
i won’t bother to name the sites, you know who you are.
so, there is something wrong with the way alexa models these numbers??

We certainly don’t swing the total newspaper number, but knoxnews traffic in page views and monthly uniques will be higher in October than September. I suspect overall the uptrend continues as papers put more attention to their Web properties || die.
To the commenter who mentioned Alexa, I see a lot of weirdness in Alexa data. I view it as just hmmm data.
