I was really hoping for some good ideas.

We've rebuilt our rickety old election system (based on a DOS system from 1989) and rearranged it. It's now set up to have an embedded player with our election coverage side-by-side with auto-refreshing results.

We've also sold the live stream. Instead of just blacking out the breaks, we will run a slate with a sponsor logo and audible message. The sponsor will be the entire break, and also gets pre-roll inventory. It's a total immersive campaign for the sponsor.

hopefully, some will learn from their mistakes. we'll see.

here in detroit, only the number 3 station in town got the last mayor's election "call" right.

as is often the case, getting it first and getting it right proved mutually exclusive.

hey, no one will notice, right?

do they wonder where their credibility went?

i mentioned this here before. the local nbc affiliate "called" the race for the ultimate "2nd place finisher"and had it posted on their homepage for a period of time.

what the heck good did that do them???

or the process.

slow down.

btw- my hat's off to the fellow from the fox affiliate (can't remember his name right now) who stood his ground for what seemed like hours until it was evident that the other two stations had botched the call.
