I don't count Alexia as "accurate" online ratings. Alexia has a weird way of getting stats. For example, Alexia only measures traffic by Internet Explorer and only if the users downloads the Alexia toolbar, sometimes unknowing. Alexia doesn't count those that use Netscape, Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, etc. Just a heads up when publishing stats from Alexia. Then again, doesn't Nelsion has some problems with the way TV ratings are calculated?

It's much to early to tell if it'll be a continued trend. That said, didn't MySpace traffic start to slow after NewsCorp bought it? Young people just don't like corporations buying their hangouts. It ruins the "exclusitivity", so they'll go elsewhere. Young people are a very weird, fickle bunch.

That all said, it's not like YouTube is exactly starving for page views right NOW. Again, we'll have to wait a while longer to see if this is either a hiccup or a trend.

I think it might be related to the Comedy Central video yank as much as the Google purchase.
