MTV launches new, action-packed site
Cory Bergman November 13th, 2006
Wow, punch up the new MTV.com and you’ll be awash in Flash action, clearly a site for a ADHD generation. On the left, an embedded video player keeps rolling as you browse. Search for a music video and screen quickly animates into a full-sized player. Very cool, but it repeatedly wouldn’t allow me to find and play a simple JayZ video. Explains a comment on Digg about the new site, “Thanks for helping to prove even more why Flash sites suck. I’ll admit that the sites are beautiful. But they lack the functionality and speed that I demand and can achieve from an HTML design.” Screen grab…

I can never get their videos to play on my Mac. I’m not sure if it’s a Mac or Firefox issue but I’ve always hated their site.

This new design sucks. It took me almost 2 minutes to load on a fast T-1 LAN, which is sad.

Just one more reason why Flash is evil. Give me a Lynx-friendly site or give me death!

One thing that’s cool: in the upper right, you can switch between “site mode” and “video mode.”

I’ve watched more music videos on the Comcast Fan than I have on MTV or it’s step brother VH1.

Got frustrated waiting for a video to buffer and left… Looks nice if they can solve the speed problem.

Yet another failure to add to the high stacks of “all flash sites”. Users want content, and quickly, as mention “adhd site” well if you ever make it to the site, I usually lose pateince at 10 seconds.
