MSNBC.com is seeking a Marketing Director, East Coast, responsible for all MSNBC.com public relations efforts, cross-promotional efforts with NBC and marketing management for select brands/products. Will establish and maintain strong media relationships, write and distribute press releases and prepare long and short term PR planning. Will spearhead daily collaboration with the NBC News and NBC’s in-house agency, providing support for NBC promotional efforts online and coordinate MSNBC.com resources accordingly. Manage all in-house promotional space inventory with NBC News, MSN, NBCU Digital and more. May oversee MSNBC.com marketing events for stakeholders, clients and/or trade.
The ideal candidate will be a strong believer in consumer-centric marketing and tight alignment between marketing strategy and overall business goals. Track record of success within the TV and/or online industry very strongly preferred. Must display unwavering confidence, energetic idea-generation, “can-do” attitude and laser focus on solutions despite high pressure environment. Demonstrates ability to shift from strategic to tactical approaches as the business need dictates. BA/BS degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing or Journalism. MBA strongly preferred. Requires 7+ years of service in marketing, PR, and/or media industry. Thorough knowledge of media landscape, key players, overall strategies, and vision of future for the industry is a plus. Strong foundation in latest technologies such as viral/search/rich media marketing, RSS, podcasting, blogging and the ability to leverage each for marketing purposes is desirable. Successful candidate will be a “force of nature” known for the ability to make things happen in a way agreeable to demanding stakeholders with differing agendas. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High business ethics and integrity are non-negotiable requirements for this position. Must be a critical thinker with strong analytical skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects. Must have exceptional writing skills. Should inspire and motivate those around you and maintain positive work environment at all costs.
