Rocketboom creator reacts to Congdon’s new gig

Cory Bergman December 13th, 2006

Rocketboom’s Andrew Michael Baron posts this on his blog today regarding Amanda Congdon’s Rocketboom-like debut on ABCNews.com:

It is in fact my position that the Amanda Across America, ABC News and HBO projects are all Rocketboom projects that were usurped out of Rocketboom by Amanda when she quit. And when I say usurped, I don’t just mean a little bit. I spent months working on these projects and relationships. I spent a great deal of legal fees on contracts, etc. - we are talking deep, deep development.

Ouch. Baron says the LA Times is working on a story which will also include some “some pretty damn big news” about progress that Rocketboom has made.

What exactly is the fascination with this woman? With this comedy bit?

Yes, she has a huge rack, but she’s also damn annoying.

    She’s today’s Ashleigh Banfield.

    Anyway…

I wish Andrew Baron would go away. He said Amanda’s departure was unplanned and he had never thought about RB without her, and then two minutes after he said that, a video surfaced of a “screen test” with Joann that was done while Amanda was still doing the show.

Baron is a damned liar. He said he is responsible for 95% of the ideas and such that Rocketboom were based on, and it took him almost 3 weeks to get RB back on the air after Amanda left. For someone who’s that deeply responsible for everything it should’ve happened a lot quicker.

I like Joann. I like the new RB. I think it’s just as good as it was and in some ways better than it was with Amanda. That being said, I wish Andrew would get back behind the camera and computer screen and shut up because he adds nothing to his product when he’s out in front of it.

    and….

when a major newspaper draws a straight line connecting amanda congdon and walter cronkite, the world as we knew it came to an end.

congdon and cronkite? the heffernan person at the Times needs a serious head examination.

not only should baron go away, so should she.

Both those twits should be thankful that they ever backed into such a sweet deal in the first place.

Amanda Congdon…Yikes! Staffers at ABC news in LA say it took her over six hours of taping to do that one segment. Yet I’m sure Bob Igen and the brain trust at Disney see her as the future and the Cronkite types as the past.
