AgencyNext rebuts my criticism of its blog
Steve Safran December 19th, 2006
I love getting opposing views. I’ve invited them in the past. I always run them. So here is AgencyNext’s response to my criticism that the blog they launched as “Marketing Messaging Firm of Record for Winter” was a bad choice and is less-than transparent. **Note that a small hoo-hah ensued when they thought I wasn’t posting their reply. This is because they were blocked in the comments section by our spam filter when they put in a URL. Good reminder for everyone - and it says so at the top - that we have to filter out URL comments because so much spam comes in that way. You can always write something like “www (dot) blogname dotcom” or something.

You know that I really like LR and if I didn’t say it enough, I’m sure you could tell from my number of comments, but I’ve sort of have to lump this thing in with the Walmart Parking Lot bandwagon; The “Wnter” blog obviously has a short shelf-life, if they don’t run out of humor or reasons to post, the calendar will just get them. I mean, unless “Winter” starts smiting people or trying to extort money from parts of the country, it doesn’t really have very far to go.
Perhaps the “blogroll” and the fact that the agency is identified as the one conducting the “interview” is pretty subtle, but the thing isn’t obviously being written by a season and by using the third person, they’re sort of covering their ass. It looks to me like an effort to get some links and maybe produce an agency buzz, something that’s apparently working. Maybe they could go a little further with a copyright notice or something, but the consumer does sort of have to take some responsibility for themselves. After all, you can’t really call it deliberately misleading.

Uh - “obviously isn’t” and not “isn’t obviously”, plus “Winter” not “Wnter”…
Oh, how I miss that old “preview post” feature, your old software offered.
