Introducing MyGreenSpace.net

David Johnson December 27th, 2006

Apologies for using lostremote for my own selfless purposes, but over the years, lostremoters have come together as a great community of forward thinkers, and I want to share something with you all. It is the christmas present I made for my wife. Sure, other husbands might make their wives homemade gifts like a woodcarving or something, but I just happen to make Web sites, so I gave her MyGreenSpace.net and turned it up on Christmas day.

Like any good present, this one is the best if you share it, and in this case, it needs to be shared with a lot of people. The idea is pretty straight forward: we’re building an online community/network focused on the environment. Specifically, you log in and can create yourself a greenspace where you can blog about the things you are doing in your life to help keep our environment sustainable and liveable in the future. If you find another related site or community, you link it in.
If you find news that is relevant, you blog it. If you have a tip on something we can all do, share it.

This isn’t a political site, it isn’t an advocacy site, it is a gift, and hopefully it becomes a real gift to our children so in fifty years, they don’t have to face the horrific future that is baldly staring us in the face. If we can capture just a share of the myspace mojo, this may become a part of the solution. We all share this planet together, and together, we can make a difference.

So please, take a minute, log in and join the network and then tell your friends to do the same. I’ve launched the site with just the bare bones, but it is taking members and every authenticated member gets a profile page, a blog, and can start posting in the forums to help the site and community take shape. We’ll shake it down and build in more functionality to grow the site over time, I am also assembling an advisory board to explore getting true non-profit status. You can help just by signing up and contributing content, but if you want to do more in the back end, please drop me a note at daj (at) davidandrewjohnson.com and let me know.
