Position: Director of Media Relations and Editorial Development

The Director of Media Relations and Editorial Development is
responsible for all aspects of media relations strategies and
editorial development from a creative and business standpoint, and
from an overall company level. He or she leads the media relations
and editorial process. He or she is responsible for the success and
quality of the media relations and editorial aspects of our
projects.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, video
production, public relations or communications, with broadcasting
background preferred. Master’s degree helpful.

Experience: 10 years experience in TV news/broadcasting or media
relations, including at least 5 years of proven leadership and
management experience and at least 2 years of experience in the
management of news content for websites. Proficient in Microsoft
Office, media database and project management programs. Experience in
photoshop, HTML and flash beneficial. Understanding of non-linear AVID
editing process.

creative idea person. Strong understanding of TV news business,
Internet content management/syndication and public relations. Strong
financial, budgeting and general business skills. Ability to
conceptualize and execute strategic plans and solutions. Ability to
encourage and obtain success and high standards from others. Ability
to stay ahead of industry trends, technologies and procedures. Strong
news judgment and creative thinking ability resulting in innovative
approaches. Excellent creativity and storytelling skills. Confident
decision-maker. Excellent client skills. Comfortable working in team
environment with authentic communication.

Primary responsibilities: Defines, forecasts and manages overall
media relations and editorial standards within our company. Leads
initiative to secure our company’s and our clients’ content on
news websites through media relations and by building partnerships.
Leads other new media projects. Oversees media relations and
editorial projects from a big picture standpoint. Leads the creative
and strategic thinking process. Directs and mentors staff. As key
executive contact for client, helps “sell” MediaSource’s
capabilities and work to clients. Improves staff judgment and
creativity by overseeing internal performance review system.

Secondary responsibilities: Approves or delegates approval of all
strategies and client submissions. Selects and monitors outside
vendors. Evaluates and recommends new procedures, personnel and
equipment.

Promotion path: Vice President of Media Relations and Editorial
Development

Labor status: This is a professional position and is exempt from most
federal and state labor laws.

Supervisory responsibilities: All media relations and production
staff. Freelancers and/or vendors as designated.
