Why Paula Abdul should stay off live TV

Cory Bergman January 12th, 2007

I was wondering how long it would take for this to land on YouTube (I saw it air here in Seattle). Perhaps she was celebrating the fact she just landed her own show. UPDATE: Paula’s publicist tells TMZ.com that the reason for her odd behavior was because the station had “…technical problems with the satellite and her sound was dropped not once but twice. Paula was in a small room by herself with only a cameraman. Paula was distracted and confused by the station dropping the sound. She did not know what was going on.”

need for promotion and an additional 15mb of fame denies rational thought.

then of course, perhaps she inhaled.

This is why we show car wrecks on TV.

If that’s what being happy is about, I’d rather be miserable. Someone get her some help.

She’s a professional who has worked in live television before and has done plenty of SMT’s. You can’t tell me that losing audio would mess her up that badly.

I think what her publicist meant to say was… “the station dropped the audio twice and she got flustered. She pulled out her flask while waiting for the station to get its act together. It’s no big deal. She does this all the time.”

I think this may be the first documented case of audio intoxication.

The station in question did not “drop the audio” (though it should have dropped the interview). Rather pathetic that the show/network would turn on one of its own affiliates, whom it badly embarrassed by allowing a star in no condition to do an interview to go ahead and do it anyway, to try to cover up.

Soooo… did KTVU in SF have audio problems too? Click my name for the video of THAT part of her sat. tour…

The PR’s explanation makes no sense. Almost all sat tours are in small rooms with just a camera. HELLO! So why doesn’t everyone else appear drunk too then?

Actually, I don’t think she’s drunk, just high on painkillers. If American Idol wasn’t such a runaway success, they would have fired her a while ago.

The fact that Fox continues to enable Paula Abdul’s condition for the sake of ratings is more pathetic. A responsible network or responsible human beings should have intervened long ago.
