Person needed to compile, edit, and write news stories from a variety
of sources including WRAL-TV, the internet, wire services, and
traditional news sources with an emphasis on delivering breaking news
quickly and accurately. This individual will integrate into stories
compelling and creative text and headlines, still images, audio,
video, and web links to create an appealing and thoughtful online
package. The Web Editor will update various sections of the web site
throughout the day, including Sports, Consumer, Health, Weather, and
Education. Will also be responsible for maximizing traffic to
WRAL.com by analyzing real-time and historical visitor trends and
appropriately placing content on pages. The successful candidate
should have a strong command of the Associated Press Stylebook and
HTML; news writing or editing experience; exceptional spelling and
grammar skills; and the ability to work accurately and independently
under deadline pressure. Evening, weekend, and some holiday work
required. One year of related work experience preferred; bachelor’s
degree required, preferably in Journalism, Communication, or English.
