ABC.com leads network sites in unique streams

Posted by Cory Bergman on January 18, 2007

According to Nielsen-Netratings data for the months of October and November, ABC.com’s video of its primetime shows attracted 3.1 million (Oct) and 3 million (Nov) unique users, compared to CBS.com’s 1.2 million and 1.9 million, and Fox.com’s 640,000 and 676,000. NBC.com’s video wasn’t apparently enough to register on the Nielsen-Netratings data despite the fact NBC.com’s overall traffic is tied with ABC.com for the most-visited network site at 9.5 million monthly uniques. A little perplexing, but NBC just recently began to stream its primetime shows, and arguably the most popular online show, The Office, is not available on NBC.com.

I watched the first two episodes of “Knights of Prosperity” on the site, and got hooked. Now I try to watch it “live.”

They have a good video site – limits to two commercial breaks of :30 and that’s it.

It’s an awesome video site. It’s years ahead of NBC’s clunky player, which, last time I checked, didn’t afford me the option of watching it in a small or large size, only a large size would do.

And it’s extremely nice for when your VCR decides not to tape a show, for whatever reason. (It must be a DVR at heart. ^_^)
