PRESS RELEASE — RealNetworks(R), Inc. (NASDAQ:RNWK), the global leader in digital media and entertainment, launched today its film and entertainment news site Film.com, featuring film previews, movie trailers, DVD releases, and coverage of television programming and celebrity news. Real is introducing the new Film.com at Sundance, where reporters for the Web site will post daily exclusive video reports and commentary from the film festival.
Film.com was originally founded in 1994 by Seattle film critic Lucy Mohl as the independent voice of film commentary on the Internet. The new Film.com has assembled a team of writers from across the United States to enhance the site’s video and entertainment information with the writers’ personal commentary, providing unique insights on film, television and entertainment throughout the day.
Each Film.com contributor lends a personal point of view to their specialty; for example, MaryAnn Johanson, a daily movies contributor, is a film columnist based in New York and has published online movie reviews for almost ten years. She is also a founder and member of the Cinemarati, The Web Alliance for Film Commentary. Daily television commentary, news and reviews are provided by Jace, at Televisionary, an LA-based television development and acquisitions executive.
“We have created the site to be a single, multi-faceted location for all things relating to movies, celebrities and television shows, covering both mainstream popular interests as well as independent and indie films,” said Elizabeth Coppinger, vice president, Media Software & Services for RealNetworks. “We look forward to providing our site visitors with a fresh and unique approach to movies, television, and entertainment.”
From Sundance, Film.com’s team of reporters and photographers will post stories and video clips daily about the movies and personalities attending the event. Live today on the site are director profiles and information on films to be shown at the Festival in addition to non-Festival information. Film.com will also be hosting a launch party at Sundance featuring performances by The Apples in Stereo and West Indian Girl. Party footage, video of the concert performances, and band interviews will be released on the site later this month.

I’d rather slam my own dick into a door-jam multiple times than use anything from Real.

What part of this doesn’t Real get?
I though they might have changed something but the install crashed Firefox, IE7 froze, and finally after 15 minutes it tried to take over all my media files and added a message centers on the desktop. Certainly not worth the effort to see video I can see on any number of other sites. Never again.

I’m not sure what Ralph is referring to here, but there’s no installation involved with Film.com, unless you don’t have flash, which is hard to believe nowadays.
