Oversee the operation and maintenance of electronic news gathering
facilities as well as the implementation of new technology in the
newsroom. Supervise, schedule and train SNG technicians which
includes conducting annual performance appraisals for employees under
his/her supervision. Establish maintenance schedules for electronic
news gathering equipment. Assume the role of “super user” on the News
Department’s iNews computer system, configuring and maintaining the
system. Be responsible for assuring compliance with all relevant DOT
and FCC regulations and act as the station’s point person on all
matters regarding local frequency coordination. Candidates must have
a minimum of five years experience in electronic news gathering
operations (microwave and satellite) which includes time in a
supervisory role. He/she should also have completed a course of study
in electronics or broadcast technology or have commensurate experience
in a commercial television news operation. Must be knowledgeable about
personal computers and the Microsoft Office suite of software. The
ability to communicate clearly and deal effectively with the people
he/she supervises, other newsroom colleagues and the general public
is essential.
