Gates goes on ‘Daily Show’ to plug Windows Vista

Steve Safran January 29th, 2007

What better way to kick off the release of Windows Vista than with a visit to the geeks at the Daily Show? Head Geek Bill Gates did just that, and handled Jon Stewart’s cunning attempts at figuring out his password. (”Is it ‘Gates’? Did you ever have a pet when you were younger? What was the pet’s name?”) Here’s the video…

ALSO: Part two of the interview, in which Gates talks about the future of computing, and Stewart asks about interactive TV. (Jon: “When you say ‘interactive’ what do you mean by that? Because I kind of like it that I can’t see them at home.”

One question: Where was John Hodgeman in all of this? Too easy of a joke?

You’ve seen the latest commercial. He was probably still in recovery after his upgrade procedure.

Still, it would have been brilliant to have Hodgeman walk on. I imagine there were all sorts of caveats before Gates would go on. Still - the two of them shaking hands would be amazing.

Ah, a Comedy Central embedded player! Really good to see this - we get a high-quality vid, and they get a plug for their show at the top. Everyone’s a winner.

Let’s hope more broadcasters follow suit…

I dunno… after reading about the memory requirements for Vista, I may finally make the jump to Macs
