This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of interactive
media and television. As an engineer building this exciting new
media platform, you will help invent and deliver a service that will
touch millions of people around the world. You will join a talented
team of software, Web and media veterans from companies such as
Allaire, ATG, Comcast, Macromedia, Lycos and News Corp., led by the
company’s founder and Internet pioneer Jeremy Allaire.
Brightcove is looking for a world class engineer that will help shape
the future of our next generation interactive media and television
publishing platform in the Seattle Office. The candidate must be a
strong senior engineer with proven experience building enterprise
level scalable systems tailored to thousands, if not millions of
users. The candidate must show understanding of the media space on
the web. Candidate must also be a self starter with thrive to
innovate in an independent fashion.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in defining the next generation architecture.
• As a senior engineer, provide design guidance to the more junior
members of the team.
• Participate in on going review effort to make sure current system
is ready to high volume scale.
• Implement and design new features.
• Write code in a heterogeneous environment composed by .NET, J2EE,
SQL server, Oracle and Flash components.
• Write multithreaded scalable server side code using design
patterns that are typically applied to a scalable enterprise
application.
• Design and implement unit tests.
• Diagnose problems and design proper solutions.
Qualifications:
• MS/BS in Computer Science preferred, experience building large
enterprise applications is a must.
• At least 5 years of proven experience.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Object Oriented Design skills.
• Experience writing n-tiered enterprise applications with .NET (C#
preferred).
• Proficient in Web Services standards (SOAP, XML, WSDL, etc).
• Relational database development skills (SQL server preferred).
• Familiarity with Flash Video.
• Excellent technical communication skills in both written and
spoken English.
• UML.
• Understand the value of an iterative (agile/scrum) development
process.
• Understand the value of design patterns.
• Experience with Adobe Flex/Flash a plus.
• Experience with Oracle a plus.
• Experience with Windows Media Center edition a plus.
• Experience with Objective C a plus.
• Must be able to adapt in a high paced and fast changing startup
environment.
• Must be a self starter.
