Position Summary:
The team responsible for the development of the 10 Disney-owned, ABC
local television station websites is looking for a passionate,
experienced Software Engineer to help propel our 10 local television
news sites into the future. Our local news sites serve some of the
largest markets in the U.S., including: New York, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Chicago, Toledo, Flint, Fresno, Raleigh-Durham,
Philadelphia and Houston. As Software Engineer (End-to-End
Development), you will serve a diverse function as both a user
interface and data delivery/automation developer. Your contribution
will have a direct impact on the quality of the user experience. As a
user interface developer, you will collaborate with designers,
technical producers and engineers to create user-centric interfaces
and features to improve the experience and increase the overall
engagement of our users. Your role will be equally important as a
data delivery/automation developer. You will design, develop, test,
and deploy new Java-based data delivery and servlet applications as
well as develop new features and functionality in existing
applications. You will work independently and with other engineers to

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent
experience)
3-5 years Object Oriented design experience.
Positive track record delivering successful web applications through
the full product lifecycle (e.g. requirements, design,
implementation, testing, deployment, documentation).
Familiarity with database development, with ability to design
schemas, develop queries, and write stored procedures.
Understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns
and concepts.
User interface design experience (a plus).
Ability to multi-task, quickly adapt to new development environments
and changing business requirements, learn new systems, create
reliable code, and find creative and scalable solutions to
challenging problems.
Ability to develop and execute project plans for small to medium
sized projects.
Near flawless organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
with the ability to excel both individually and on a team.
A strong sense of drive, ownership, passion and a commitment to the
user experience.
Demonstrated ability to excel and lead without close supervision.
Interest in technology trends and the changing online environment.
Deep interest in or knowledge of the television and online news
business a huge plus!
Specific Skills Required:
Demonstrated, practical experience with Java (C++ a plus), servlets
and web applications.
Demonstrated, practical experience with Web technologies/techniques,
including: HTML, XML, HTTP, SOAP, JavaScript, scripting languages
(JSP, ASP, PHP, TEA, etc.), AJAX, Flash (a plus).
Practical experience with SQL Server, SQL, JDBC.
Familiarity with networking technologies, such as TCP/IP.
