CNN announces Nevada Democrat presidential debate

Steve Safran February 7th, 2007

CNN has just announced it will have a debate among the Democrat candidates for president on November 4 in Las Vegas. Nevada is an emerging political force, yes, but the choice of Las Vegas is sure to raise some eyebrows. With recent presidential elections decided by the “family values” crowd, do the Dems really want Sin City as a backdrop? (Yes, I realize I’m asking for trouble when I wander into political territory here.) Most importantly, will there be betting on who wins? Sidebets on who says “Bush” first? How many times Obama calls himself “skinny?” ALSO: CNN poll out today shows McCain and Guiliani neck-and-neck for the Republican vote, and Hillary leading Obama by about 10 points. Let the horserace begin!

Here are a few more odds -

1,000-1 Hillary Clinton makes any jokes about her husband

500-1 Wolf Blitzer accidentally calls Obama - Osama

100-1 Dennis Kunicich is not allowed into the debate because he gets carded and doesn’t have an ID

5-1 John Edwards tells a story about eating at Wendy’s with his wife

10-1 Tom Vilsack makes a reference to the either Jon Stewart or the AFLAC duck

1 million - 1 One of the candidates says they support the War in Iraq

Those are a few off the top of my head.. I’m sure Stewart and Colbert will do better.

Isn’t this debate to be held in Carson City?

The Democrats chose Las Vegas for their convention. I doubt they’re squeamish about having a debate there. Who can fault them for spending time in the nation’s second primary state?

Excluding FOX proposed by movinon.org would send a powerfully poor message. Hey that is one poor way to communicate.
