Digital Content Manager-KOAT.com, Albuquerque, NM, Req #025-07
POSITION STATEMENT:
The Digital Content Manager will be responsible for all content on
KOAT’s website, including but not limited to news, marketing, sales
content, and production of special sections.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary duties include editorial oversight of the website, writing
and posting content to the website, overseeing the posting of content
to the website by KOAT personnel, and managing all viewer driven
content. The digital content manager will be the liaison with the
station and Internet Broadcast, Inc. to develop, facilitate and
expedite the completion of station, corporate and IB web projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
REQUIRED:
The DCM will be the liaison between the station and Internet
Broadcasting to execute digital content development and coordination
between KOAT and IB.
The DCM will report directly to the creative services director with
daily meetings with the news director on content issues.
The DCM will attend daily news editorial meetings and give editorial
input on news stories and how they will be used on the website.
Review the website daily and have daily communication with the CSD
and ND concerning superior execution of breaking news, severe
weather, daily news and special project development.
Provide guidance to build the big story on the web with creative,
on-point angles that increase user clicks, this can include
community-generated content and interactive experiences.
Exercise good editorial judgment to write, post news stories and
videos and keep the website current and updated.
Will direct news and production staff in posting news content to the
website.
Develop new concepts aimed at increasing content for station website
and digital devices; special attention is paid towards user
interactivity and unique ways to aggregate existing content and
development of content concepts that can generate non-traditional
revenue.
Design, create and moderate user-generated content areas such as
slide shows, viewer videos and blogs.
Responsible for training all news and sales staff on IB and KOAT web
procedures as well as keeping the current staff up to date on
procedures and training.
Report weekly to KOAT management staff about the website’s progress
and performance.
The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of HTML and web
authoring software, Adobe Photoshop, and other commonly used web
design tools, as well as content management systems.
Journalism background and experience required. Minimum three years of
news media experience in broadcast and on-line preferred.
