Apple TV rollout delayed until mid-March
Steve Safran February 26th, 2007
Apple is going to spend a little more time tinkering with its device that will stream video from computers to your TV. Apple TV was originally slated to come out this month. But company spokeswoman Lynn Fox says “Wrapping up Apple TV is taking a few weeks longer than we projected, and we now expect to begin shipments mid-March,” but the company’s not elaborating on the snag. Arrgg. When I didn’t hear anything, I knew it was going to be delayed. Better late than buggy, I guess, but I’m jonesing for this thing.

What does this device deliver that others (such as Pinnacle’s ShowCenter) haven’t been doing for ages?

Don’t fall into that trap, Stefan. Apple usually isn’t first - they’re the ones to build the better mousetrap. The iPod wasn’t the first MP3 player either.

good point.
on the other hand, i would ship it as-is.
the first ipods were notorious for the non-replaceable battery and look how much of a toll that took on sales.
we had one of them.
now we have 3 or 4 floating around.

So, will any movies/tv shows/videos on your computer be compatible with the Apple TV or just ones that were specifically downloaded from iTunes? I’ve been looking for the answer to that question for a while and can’t seem to find a straight one. Thnks.
