Cory Bergman February 27th, 2007
“To Iraq and Back: Bob Woodruff Reports” airs on ABC at 10 p.m after an appearance on Oprah earlier today. “I remember driving along in the tank, up that road, and standing up outside through the open hatch at the top,” he said. “When the IED actually exploded, I don’t remember that,” Woodruff continued. “But I do remember at that moment I saw my body floating below me and… a whiteness… I just saw something.” Update: Lots of video, photos and stories on ABCNews.com.

Hopefully Bob will bring awareness of people with disabilities, PWDs, and their fight for civil rights to the tv media, where the way PWD’s are portrayed is an “issue” within the disabilities community.
We are all hoping the media “discovers” we are people not “our disabilities.” We only become “handicapped” when those with latent bias fefuse to identify and remove barriers. There are three kinds of barriers, physical ones like stairs, general barriers in the environment like no dogs allowed signs, and attitudinal barriers that allow folks to continue discrimination based on disability because of their latent bias.

I pray for your recovery everyday, because you will be an inspiration to all the soldiers who have been injuried. My daughter was injured on 8/25/2004. I was not given the oppurtinuty to travel over to sit by her side while she was in Germany. My daughter has 5 children. She and other females have served their country well. The problem I have with all this is that they are kicked to the curb and just not talked about or repesented by no one from congress or the news.
When the males or hurt they talk on and on for days but the females or just forgotten. My daughter will be getting out due to being injured. She has no home or nothing because she does not meet some requirements to get one. So once she sign out of housing she will basically be on her own. What is she to do once she get out and have to survive with. These thing need to be answered. The VA really have not helped the soldiers at all. They still have soldiers fighting for medical and finacial support from the Vietnam, korean, japan and every other war and conflict that we have entered. Bob with your help maybe we can get these issues resolved. My daughter’s name is E4 Rosetta T. Floyd, she is stationed at Ft Hood, Texas. I would really appreiciate it if you can help out my fellow female soldiers. I am proud of her and all the soldiers that have serviced. I serviced during Desert Storm and I’m still trying to get my issues resolved. We should not have to come home and fight for what we deserve.
Also I am proud of your courage to stand up for all who cannot. God Bless you and your family.

What a remarkable recovery. Thank God you are aware of all the soldiers who are hurting and not getting the proper medical and financial help they need. Hopefully now that you have started the ball rolling it will get better for all these poor young women and men. God Bless you.
