Like the retro Lost Remote logo?
Cory Bergman February 27th, 2007
I’m trying to figure out the logo for the Lost Remote T-shirts, which got me thinking about the old logo from 2000-2006. So I popped it up on the site to see what you think. Here’s the one that was there before. So which do you like? Vote here.

Ew! The new one is better. The old one looks like an enema.

It’s like throwback day at the ballpark. Maybe we should have Mitchell & Ness do the LR shirts…

I like the new one too.

OLD all the way!

Ok, i’m confused. Jordan and Cale, you like the retro logo that’s up there right now? Or the other one?
Brings back memories, doesn’lt it?

The newest one which looks like the pipes under my sink.

Sorry about the confusion, I like the “newest” one.

I like the older one (the one that went on hiatus, and is currently appearing on-screen), personally… It feels like there was thought put into it. Plus, it’s very functional, clean and a clear brand logo.
The newer one just looks like another cookie cutter Web 2.0 logo, like they ran it through the Web2.0 logo generator that was linked to a while ago.
That said, I’ve grown used to the newer one, so either way, the t-shirts would look fine.
How soon before we know which slogan won?

The new one. I like the ‘capsule’ connotation. LR is the medication to cure MSM of its ailments!

Yeah, I have to say that I’m quite taken with the new logo as well. Rule number one in logo design these days is “anything but a lozenge”.

I prefer the new one. You could use it to do a baseball jersey with the “pipes” logo on the left size like a baseball team logo. You could also experiment with different retro logos.

as you know i thought and still think the new one looks like a bowl of confusing pasta.
the old one looks a little retro now but it punchs better.
what you need is design 3.0 that takes 1.0 and brings it up to this century speed.

I smell a user-generated logo contest! By which I mean we get our “users” to send in their designs and we pick the best one and the “winner” gets the benefit of knowing we saved money on a “professional.” Let’s do it!

100% New “pipes” logo all the way. Take this old logo out back behind the wood shed and put it out of its misery.
Old Pill Logo: An uninspiring, boring, constrained, unoriginal copycat of the old pill shape. The fad is over and it’s dated.
New “Pipes” Logo: Awesome! Simplicity meets depth. Great to have a logo that doesn’t include the text (that should be the point of a logo). Subtle bends create the letters l and r out of the negative space without beating you over the head with it, odd angled outerbox is complimented with the letters being at different odd angle. The newer logo is art, and is worthy of others copying your design lead.

That would be a fun contest. Especially since we all have very strong opinions, and we’d have to create something that even *we* can’t ridicule.
Just for fun, I tried making something up really quickly. (I still don’t even like it, which, considering my “Art-Related OCD”, I may never be happy with.) BUT… Instead of thinking, “Boy, that’d look cool as the site’s logo,” I actually took a screen grab of Lost Remote, then put the new logo on to the image of the site, whereupon I realized that… the logo doesn’t look good on the site.
But see? Even “the masses” have this instant feedback, design-wise, to see if it’d look good for not just the brand, but for the site itself.
And who said technology wasn’t fun?
(BTW, click on my name to see my logo. The only reason I don’t really like it is because it results in too many boxes on screen. And the “Lost” part of “Lost Remote” might ACTUALLY mislead someone to think that this site could, possibly, be related to ABC’s “Lost”, which would be even more cruel for people who get to LR through search engines looking for “Lost.”)
