Anchor weekend newscasts and fill in as needed to anchor other news
broadcasts; gather, prepare and disseminate news on the air;
interview news story subjects in the field; maintain contacts with
news sources and cultivate new ones; integrate graphics, videotape
and audio tracks to produce news story packages for broadcast;
research and develop stories and story ideas for future use; assume
responsibility for final content and presentation of stories on air;
appear on camera, both in the studio and at remote locations.
Candidates must demonstrate skill in writing conversational broadcast
copy incorporating appropriate visual elements under daily deadline
pressure. Must possess skills and experience necessary to make
independent editorial decisions in the field and to supervise
photographers and technical staff assigned to work with him/her in
the field. A college degree and a minimum of five years experience as
a news reporter for a commercial television station are required.
