HBO to stream series online for free

Cory Bergman March 12th, 2007

In a big first for HBO, the pay network will offer all 14 parts of the upcoming series, The Addiction Project, on HBO.com for free. We blogged some time ago about how HBO is proud of its lack of a digital strategy. But perhaps the importance of the project — an in-depth look at addiction and how to get help — has led HBO to offer it online. In addition to the video, HBO.com has set up a terrific companion site where you can learn more about addiction, treatment, aftercare and discrimination. Screen grab…

The Addiction Project is produced by HBO in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).

I would suspect that the involvement of so many non-profits - especially granting organizations like the RWJF - is the real impetus for HBO streaming the shows for free. And those orgs probably deserve most of the credit for this “first” for HBO.

I am given, unfortuneately, false hope as I watch these great addiction successes. You see I am from Edmonton, Alberta Canada and have two sons (31 @ 33) both with serious, muiltiple addictions, but alas here in the north we are still in the caveman stage for addictions and the rehab that is needed. Keep on keeping and I will continue to watch and dream.

profanity and drugs hurt this presentation. only the early and ending surf scenes have merit.

Are there any new medications out for adiction to cigarettes, besides wellbuteren?

I have heard there is a new drug that takes away cravings. is this true?

also what were the medications mentioned for alchol treatment?
    thank you!

to answer # 11’s question, I live in Calif.
SUBUTEX is a deritive of suboxone. most of the pain management doctors here are now using this drug. It is absolutely a miricle drug that works
within an hour or two. call dr hirtle in burbank ca.
he is a pain and addiction specialist-great person
if he is too far for you he can prob. refer you to someone in your area, or look up painand addiction dr’s in your area and simply ask if they use suubutex for treatment of opiates! G.L.;)

to: Ronnie Cool do what your parents want to do for you.
It makes a lot of difference when you are talking to someone with all your teeth , trust me i know. It makes a lot of difference in your life when you are not ashamed to say what you want to without fear of someone making a comment on no teeth. I hope you value my experience.
