Hearst-Argyle, Post-Newsweek, Meredith Broadcasting, The McGraw-Hill
Companies, Capitol Broadcasting Company, Scripps Howard, and

Release Manager, req #042-07

Responsibilities:

· Manage the end-to-end process of releasing a complex distributed
software system into customers’ environments. This system involves
applications, web servers, HTML/XSLT/JavaScript/CSS files,
configuration files, and databases.

· The release process includes software build, integration testing,
packaging, installation debugging, and customer premises
installation.

· Oversee the selection, configuration, and management of software
development lifecycle tools, including SCM, QA management, continuous
integration, release tracking, etc.

· Oversee the optimization of the overall integration testing and
release management process. Build and maintain automation scripts as
necessary.

· Interact with internal development and system administration
engineers, and with customers’ technical resources (development,
integration, QA, project management).

· Participate in the overall technical management process with other
technical managers.

Qualifications:

· 5+ years industry experience with software configuration, QA ,
integration and release management.

· Strong experience with all aspects of the software development
lifecycle, including methodologies such as iterative development,
regression testing, and continuous integration.

· Strong Linux skills, including RPM packaging system and shell
and/or Perl scripting.

· Strong ability to debug installation/configuration problems with
complex distributed applications.

· Required technologies:

o Linux

o Shell and/or Perl scripting

o CVS

o RPM

o Oracle RDBMS

o Working knowledge of Java

o Working knowledge of XML, XSLT

o Subversion a plus

o Good customer interaction skills
