‘30 Rock’ looks good for another season
Cory Bergman March 18th, 2007
It’s not official yet, but Tina Fey’s 30 Rock — one of my favorite shows — looks like it will be brought back for another season on NBC. Why is this worth a special mention? Well, there’s something about rooting for someone who is both writing and starting in her own show. Oh, and we geeks are big fans of Fey.

Glad to see this happen. This is one of the most intelligent, clever comedies on TV. Kudos for NBC to have the balls to stick with this show - its ratings were normal justification for cancellation by the Zucker Standard.
Related, I really like NBCs new Thursday Comedy lineup. I was all the shows save Earl, and all those comedies are pretty sophisticated, instead of the lame, predictable faire of Seinfeld and Friends.

I’ve been hooked on 30 Rock since I watched Liz Lemon buy an abundance of hotdogs. My only complaint is that the show is guest star crazy, which is usually the mark of a dying show. It seems a little too early to have an episode with Nathan Lane and LL Cool J making cameos. I just hope this isn’t a sign they are on pace to burn out quickly.

Funny how all the eggs were in the “Studio 60″ basket and how “30 Rock” was really the kid sister at the start of the season. I know they didn’t want us to compare the two - but how could you not?
A show about a late night comedy show should be funny. “Studio 60″ just wasn’t all that funny. “30 Rock” is funny - and getting funnier. And Olsen - the Nathan Lane episode was possibly the best episode yet. That’s the one they should submit come Emmy time. Brilliant - good twists, good subplots and a fantastic climactic ending. It was a mini-farce.

@Hussman
You did not just compare Seinfeld and Friends.

@ Johnny…
Yeah, I went there. For me, both shows burned out after abotu 4 seasons. Seinfeld burned out for me because George did the exact same thing every single episode. He would have a great idea/epiphany, rant happily about it, then get into a bizarre mix-up of circumstances that put him back at ‘Start’ then he would rant frustratingly about it. Yawn…
As far as Friends, they had plenty of great gags, but I found myself just not carign about them anymore.
