Twitter, why is it so popular?
Cory Bergman April 1st, 2007
My friend Rex posts a Twitter (Tweets?), like, four times a day (even on my bachelor’s party). So why is Twitter growing like crazy? Rex takes to the airwaves, on G4, to debate its popularity with some hot podcast girl. Go Rex!

It’s true, I really did Twitter Cory’s bachelor party. Perhaps I’ll sell the photos on eBay… heh.

Jeez, Natali - you think it’s a “Fade?” You think it’s for people “with too much free time?” You’d fit right in with the rest of the old media curmudgeons.
The point of these different web apps is that they don’t have to be eternal. That they are ephemeral is their charm. And I’ve about had it with the “free time” argument. As Rex pointed out - it’s what people used when blogs came out.
The thing may be a flop. It may be nobody cares what friends are up to every second. So? Rex has the right attitude. Give it a shot, see what happens. If friends what to know what he’s up to, they can. If not, they don’t have to.
Rex, you won the debate. Given the competition, I have no idea if that’s a compliment.

Oh, these things are all fake debates on some level, ya know? I mean, I can be just as critical of Twitter as I can be pro-Twitter.
And Natali is my Twitttermate, now.
