Apple debuts Mac Pro 8-core

Cory Bergman April 4th, 2007

Whoa. If you’re into serious high-definition video editing and animation rendering, Apple just came out with a desktop machine today that boosts some serious power: 3.0GHz, 8-core Intel Xeon-based Mac Pro. The machine has slots for four (count ‘em) hard drives. “Consider the bar officially raised,” reads Apple.com.

Mmmm, look at all those slots.

Should go nice with your new camcorder. Will Kate allow this purchase?

    Good grief, no.

If you trick out this Mac monster, you can run it up to $6K+.

The camera was for her, anyway.

(I’ll tell you this: invest in video card companies. You see the price tags on those puppies?)

Very good choice. It’s all hype anyway…I shelled out $8K for the last release on the strong urging of some employees that had been brainwashed by Apple marketing nonsense. The performance has been less than spectacular to say the least. The 27inch Cinema monitor has been returned twice in less than a year and still doesn’t work properly. If I had shelled out the same for a PC I probably could have beaten Gary Kasparov at chess.
