We had a very tech savvy reporter do a sweeps stunt from his downtown loft several years ago. He had to stay in his house the entire week, never leaving. He had a webcam up the entire time. Many of his stories were based on the things he could have delivered to his house by ordering them over the internet.

First, this is different than the Jenny Cam, because she was stuck in a wired house. Justin travels all over the place.

Second, I think this is fascinating, and I’ve found myself (along with some friends) tuning in a certain points on his published schedule to see what happens. This will spawn a ton of knock-offs, mark my words.

Third, there are some possible applications for news, here. Not for TV, mind you, but for the web. Web reporters could cover live events/breaking news in a very compelling matter. Instead of presenting the story TV-style, they simply cover the story and you can snoop in as they work in real-time. How cool would that be?

Fundamentally, this is not very interesting. It’s like a cam focused on paint drying. I don’t think the Lost producers need to be too concerned.
