Comcast says its HD video is better than satellite
Cory Bergman May 3rd, 2007
Comcast hired Magid to conduct a study to see which service — Comcast or DirecTV and Dish — has the highest quality high definition video. Magid showed 309 people side-by-side video comparing Comcast to satellite, and approximately two-thirds selected Comcast. This finding, of course, sparked plenty of controversy over at the satellite companies, which questioned the methodology.

Forgotten in this debate is the fact that all cable and satellite companies compress the signal from the TV stations… so if people really, truly want the best quality HD signal, it’s over-the-air. Beats cable or satellite every time.
Should we be promoting that?

I was just about to ditch ComCast for DirectTV. Huge cost difference in my part of the country. Guess I’ll have to do a little more research on this.

I didn’t think there would be a difference between HDTV for satellite TV and that of cable TV. Now I’m anxious to check. Is there a difference between Dish Network and DirecTV HDTV?

These companies are really duking it out. I have a feeling that cable tv is not going to make gains after the losses to satellite tv.
